Abstract

This article presents an excerpt from a monograph, and aims to understand the culture of the Rezadeiras and their possible contributions to teaching and learning, from the perspective of ethno-x, more specifically Ethnomodelling. It is characterized as a research with a qualitative approach, in which interviews were used through narratives to obtain data about the practice developed by a Rezadeira in her work with prayers. In addition, a bibliographical study was carried out on Ethnomathematics, Mathematical Modelling and Ethnomodelling, Trends in Mathematics Education that supported this research. The results indicate that the culture of the Rezadeiras can contribute to the teaching and learning process, enabling an interdisciplinary practice. In addition, pedagogical practices aimed at Ethnomodelling, for example, in addition to contributing to the improvement and development of the teaching and learning process, allow the appreciation of different cultural groups, which are sometimes made invisible by society.
