Abstract

This article aims to discuss some aspects of the inclusion of religions of African origin (RMA) in the subject Religious Education (RE) of Amapá in public education. It does an analysis of the dimension of understanding and integration of RMA in the ER as well as their relationships within the school environment. These are the preliminary results of an exploratory qualitative study that has adopted literature and document analysis and interviews as a form of research for the Master's Thesis. The discussion begins with some evidence of the influence of black culture in the social formation of Brazil and Amapá. Then it deals with considerations about racism, prejudice, discrimination and religious intolerance against RMA. Finally, we make a brief foray into the challenges and conflicts that are involved in the issue of inclusion of the RMA in the ER in public education in Amapá.
