THE ITINERARY TO EMUS (LK 24,13-35) FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE CALL TO CHRISTIAN MISSION

Abstract

This article aims to reflect on the call to mission, inherent to the Christian faith, based on the Lukan pericope The Two Disciples of Emmaus (Lk 24, 13-35). In the aforementioned excerpt, Luke highlights the need for an experience with the Risen Jesus, the importance of the Word and of sharing, which, together, promote the mission and insertion into the community. Such steps, elucidated by the aforementioned Lukan quotation, are intrinsic to the Christian mission: to evangelize and constitute the community, bringing together the disciples and missionaries of Jesus Christ who, with ardor, listen to the Word, share the Bread, and announce that the Risen Christ is alive and walks in the community.
