philosophy and racial-ethnic relations - construction of values in educational practices
Keywords:
Values, Culture, Formation, Citizenship and educationAbstract
The text deals with current issues from the African Latin American context taking into account the construction of African Brazilian education and culture. Using the philosophical tradition we recognize values as a key element for the formation of citizenship. They are values sought in education made by philosophers that determine the possibility of democracy in the polis, in Greek culture, an ancient period in the history of philosophy. The human formation through education is highlighted in its integrity. To understand the importance of the Law 10.639/03 in school education means to recognize and appreciate existing education practices from the history and culture of black people, even prior to such law. We highlight initiatives that present a new prominence of teacher and student, as well as the role of social movements and popular organizations. This new moment in the history of education requires a scientific and systematic approach. It is necessary to assert the need for a philosophical rationale and an educational, human and African Brazilian theory in the construction of democracy, considering the values of this people and the relevance of the school and the liberating education for citizenship. Educational practices and culture of black people are related in the text, highlighting its importance nowadays and for Brazilian culture.
