Christiancentrism
building concepts
Keywords:
Christiancentrism, Eurocentrism, CultureAbstract
Culture is a web of meanings where the subject is objectified. This "web of meanings", however, is built by society itself that experiences culture. This paper tries to demonstrate how the Brazilian culture is Christiancentered, that is, it is referenced by the civilizational values built by Christianity. The understanding of this is not entirely new, but there is no term that made this paradigm more clearly. Based on authors such as Paul Tillich, Clifford Geertz and Zygmunt Bauman, among others, hermeneutised by the postcolonial theories, we will test this hypothesis with the intention of formulating a concept for the neologism Cristianocentrism.
