Am I going to hell?
A possible rereading of homosexuality in the Old Testament
Keywords:
Homosexuality, Old Testament, Leviticus, Evangelical ChurchAbstract
The homosexual issue, even though very much alive in our society, is still seen with quite discriminatory eyes in Brazilian society. This view is even larger within the environment of the evangelical institutional Church, especially those of more fundamentalist nature, which generates fear of divine punishment and therefore the rejection of homosexual people in communion with the other members of this community. The main basis for these refutations are the texts of the Old Testament, especially the book of Leviticus. This article aims to address, from a lesbian Christian experience and studies of Robert Di Vito, a possible reinterpretation of the book of Leviticus and texts of the Old Testament language about the homosexual issue.
