WHEN PASSING AT THE CROSSROAD
Keywords:

The attempt to address the crossroads as a powerful symbol that unfolds several analytical possibilities is not uncommon in the human and social sciences. Observing African-Brazilian religious practitioners, their actions and specially their entities, this essay aims to boost the imaginative capacities enabled by those remarkable places. The crossroads and their divine dweller, Eshu, lead us to surpass some dichotomies – between given and done realities, matter and spirit, problems, and solutions and so forth – if we try to embrace their conceptual potential. In the following pages I will explore a few crossroads’ relational and immanent virtuality’s making use of mathematical and philosophical elements along with African-Brazilian religious conceptions. By doing so, I hope to open new paths to research endeavors and symbolical analysis that take African-Brazilian exquisite metaphysics seriously into account.
